bluetooth and stop error

Bluetooth and a stop error.

When I initially setup Vista I used my XP Bluetooth drivers (don't know why, habit maybe, trying to get it running maybe). So now my Bluetooth device looks like it's running in the Device manager, but I can find no Bluetooth options anywhere in the system.
The MSI software version I installed is StarKey_Drv4.0.1.2101 (not the most current).
This is a MSI Star Key USB Bluetooth Device and uses the WIDCOMM stack in XP. Windows initially detected it as a BCM92045DG Non-UHE.
If I uninstall the device from Windows Device Manager, BSOD!
If I boot up in safe mode I can uninstall the device from Device Manager fine, but when I reboot it is back.
I can unplug the device and it goes away (umm yea), but once I plug it back in... it comes right back.
The
actual device driver I installed is on my USB flash drive, and that is currently removed.
How I un-installed this driver. (posting this hoping it will help someone).
I've searched the system for the file listed by the device (C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\btwusb.sys I searched just for btwusb) and removed copies of the driver from the following locations. C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\ C:\Windows\inf\oem0.inf <-careful view the file to make sure it is the correct one!
Had to break in heritance, change the owner, and replace permissions... (three different steps) but I got the ones in here.. C:\Windows\system32\DriverStore\FileRepository\btwusb.inf_9474803d
Now it appears I am back to square one... Windows will detect the hardware as a BCM92045DG Non-UHE but doesn't appear to have a driver for it.
MSI has x32 and x64 bit XP drivers but nothing listed for Vista yet. The latest version of the WIDCOMM driver from MSI (StarKey_4.0.1.2900) works a little better, that is it appears to install and be functioning, paired my Motorola headset, paired with my PPC, etc. But once I rebooted I was in hard lockup land, and had to remove that entire package as well.
I've been searching around for generic WIDCOMM drivers but have not had any good luck. Apparently Broadcom the company that now owns WIDCOMM doesn't want anyone but the OEM's to distribute the driver... why an chipset manufacturer would want to make it more difficult to use there products is beyond me, but I know Broadcom just lost a fair amount of business.
I've read a 'rumor' that the version 5 of the WIDCOMM driver has some Vista support, if there is an 'official' channel to get this please let me know, privately if you feel that is necessary! Help! E
